One of my favorite weeks of the year- Boston Fashion week officially kicked off Thursday 9/27! Saturday night 9/28, I was invited to the 5th annual Emerging Trends Fashion show in the South End, at the Boston Center for the Arts (the Cyclorama). The show was organized by the SYNERGY events. This fashion show has had great success over the past few years and has even expanded and launched in Europe! Models that walked in the show came from across the country and different parts of the world, and it was very evident that they were professional runway model material! Models strutted down the runway wearing clothing from the following designers: Christine Manthey (USA) – Winner of the Emerging Trends Fashion Challenge – Paris 2012, Yeashin Kim (UK), Bitru Fariel (Poland), Jennifer Rothwell (Ireland), Lauren Beauchesne (USA), Kimberley Crawford (Canada), Truly Alvarenga (USA), Trash (Poland), Annie Jean-Baptiste (USA), Christopher Nevin (Canada), NuVU Studio (USA). Some of my favorite personal designs were by designer Christopher Nevin, who combined lacy feminine pieces with edgier elements like studs.
Makeup for all of the models was done by MLR Artist Management, whom I recently covered in my hot shopping column for Dirty Water News. They invited me to host and cover the Emerging Trends Fashion show event. I wore an awesome high-low dress with a gold sequined buister from the Apricot Lane boutique, and had a Mac makeup artist do a smokey eye look with gold accents along with a deep red lip! I got behind the scenes footage of all the models getting their makeup done and getting prepared back stage. I interviewed Lou Rod on-camera, who is one of the co-owners of MLR Artist Management along with Brandon Christopher. I also interviewed one of their talented makeup artists, Noel McKinnon. I also interviewed Miss New Hampshire USA 2012 who MCed the event, and Miss Maine Teen USA 2012 (Pictured above.) I interviewed a couple of the designers, included Christopher Nevin who was one of my favorites! And I interviewed my friend Brittany Baldi, a Boston actress/model who is the face of MLR.
I’ll share more pictures from the event as soon as I get them from photographers that were at the show, and I’ll post the video too once I am done editing it! Thanks to my videographer Brina Healy of Artyz Artzo Productions, I have some great footage! The Emerging Trends fashion show was an overall great event for Boston Fashion Week, and is helping Boston make strides towards becoming more innovative in Fashion and building its reputation as more of a Fashion city.
